Amy Brown, MSW

Executive Director

Originally from Alabama, Amy graduated from Birmingham Southern College in 2004. She then made her way north to Detroit and to the NOAH Project as a US-2 Missionary, a two year volunteer program through the United Methodist Church. After completing her time as a US-2, Amy received her Masters in Social Work from Wayne State University while continuing to work part-time at NOAH. In 2008, Amy returned full-time to NOAH and assumed increasing responsibility, moving from Assistant Project Coordinator, to Interim Director, and finally being appointed Executive Director in 2013. In addition to her work with the NOAH Project, she serves as a trustee of the United Methodist Union, Chairperson of the Read, Seed and Feed Board, a Redford Brightmoor Initiative, and is the convener of the Circle of Care, a collaboration of downtown churches serving the homeless.

James has been a big part of the NOAH family since last September. James is one of the 106 individuals engaged through our Street Outreach, which began in April 2016. For people who are truly living on the streets, getting into housing can be very difficult and oftentimes overwhelming. However, Street Outreach engages these individuals and builds trusting relationships with them, allowing NOAH to support these individuals as they go through the arduous housing process. Of the 106 individuals Street Outreach has engaged, over 60 of them, roughly 56%, have been housed or connected to a housing agency as a result of Street Outreach. It's the smiles on people's faces like James, who just received his keys, that remind us of the importance of meeting people where they are, and building trust and companionship. ...

Look how nice and full our hygiene cabinet looks! Thanks to those of you who have answered our requests for more hygiene items. Our guests appreciate it. In fact, we gave out over 60 hygiene items during our casework sessions yesterday, which means we can run through our supplies quickly.
